India Announces First Fully AI-Generated Film, ‘Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal’
Mumbai, 19 August 2025 — In a first for Indian filmmaking, Abundantia Entertainment and Collective Media Network’s History verse division have announced the production of a fully AI-generated feature film titled Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal. The project aims to retell the story of Hanuman from the Ramayana using advanced generative tools and culturally authenticated content.
Scheduled for release on Hanuman Jayanti in 2026, the film will be developed using the Galleri5 technology platform, with a team of more than 50 engineers, technologists and literary scholars collaborating to ensure accuracy and creative authenticity.
In addition to utilising AI for visuals and storytelling, the film will feature an original soundtrack by Trilok, the world’s first AI-powered band, which blends spiritual compositions with contemporary soundscapes.
Industry reactions have been mixed. While the film is being hailed as a potential “game-changer” in digital storytelling, noted filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane expressed concern on social media, questioning whether AI might ultimately push aside writers and directors in mainstream cinema.
“Who needs writers and directors when it’s ‘Made in AI’?” Motwane posted, triggering renewed debate around the ethical use of generative tools in creative industries.
Production has already begun, and the makers say they intend to release a first-look teaser later this year.
