Low Adoption of ‘Hamare Shikshak’ App Among Indore Teachers Sparks Concern

The government’s push for digital attendance tracking in schools is facing a setback in Indore, where only about 10% of 6,500 government teachers are regularly marking attendance on the ‘Hamare Shikshak’ app. The platform, designed for real-time monitoring via smartphones, aims to improve transparency and accountability in teacher attendance.

Officials attribute the low usage to poor internet connectivity, technical glitches, and inadequate training. Many educators, accustomed to traditional attendance registers, are reportedly struggling to adapt to the new system.

To boost compliance, local authorities have launched training workshops, improved internet infrastructure in schools, and set up technical helplines. The divisional commissioner has also warned of stricter action against persistent non-compliance, while urging teachers to adopt the technology for the benefit of students.

Officials remain hopeful that with better support and awareness, the app will help ensure higher teacher presence and contribute to improved classroom learning.
