Two Instagram Influencers Arrested for Obscene Content in Uttar Pradesh

Police in Sambhal district have arrested two Instagram influencers, Mehak and Pari, for allegedly creating and sharing obscene and abusive content online. Two others, identified as Hina and Jarrar Alam, were also taken into custody by Asmoli police after local residents lodged complaints.

Investigators say the group produced videos containing vulgar language and explicit visuals to attract viewers and earn money, reportedly making ₹25,000–₹30,000 per month from their posts. Authorities allege the accused used such content to gain quick popularity on social media.

Charges have been filed under Section 66 of the Information Technology Act and Section 296 of the Indian Penal Code, addressing offenses related to obscenity and public decency. Police say further legal action will follow as the investigation continues.

The case has renewed concerns over the proliferation of inappropriate content on social media and the growing calls for tighter regulations to protect online spaces.
