Big Tech is cutting jobs while pushing AI tools. But when AI hallucinates, it’s employees—not machines—who face the consequences.

While AI promises efficiency and productivity, it is also driving massive job cuts across Big Tech. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and others are aggressively deploying AI-powered tools across departments—not just to streamline processes but also to justify significant headcount reductions.

Even high-performing employees are at risk, as managers are under pressure to meet layoff quotas. But in reality, employees still need to manually validate every output, often line by line, against existing documents.

For example, if a solution architect gathers 100 project requirements using AI, there’s a strong chance that 1–2 of them will be completely wrong. But to find those errors, the architect must re-check all 100 requirements—eliminating much of the supposed time savings.

Ultimately, these AI tools may help with summarization and initial drafting, but the burden of accuracy still falls entirely on employees. Instead of reducing workload, the tools often create additional layers of review and stress.

Employee Concerns Ignored by Leadership
